One of the prettiest villages in France, Sancerre in the Loire region is the true home of Sauvignon Blanc, displaying at its best flavours of citrus, melon, asparagus and toasted nuts.

Sancerre is a real treat of a wine. It's made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes. One of our favourite grape varieties, we love the fact that Sauvignon Blanc comes in so many shapes and sizes. Because the climate of France is cooler than that of the New World, Sancerre doesn’t feature the ripe, tropical features which you might associate with New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc for example. Instead it is a rich yet dry wine; refined, elegant and really quite understated.

Sancerre is really quite a versatile wine for matching with food. Traditional food matches for Sancerre would be goat’s cheese or fish such as grilled sea bass, trout or lightly smoked salmon. It is also delicious with seafood such as raw or lightly cooked oysters, shell-on prawns and fresh crab. Or if you’re a lover of lightly spiced Asian food, this wine is great paired with lemongrass, coriander and chilli flavours.

We turned to our friends at Les Caves de Vins de Sancerre to make this wine, as they are experts in the field and we trusted them to create exactly what we were looking for. We wanted a wine that had typical gooseberry and grassy characters, but kept the crisp, flinty notes which are characteristic of Sancerre.
