Radcliffe's Corbières 2009
Style: Medium-bodied, fruity red
Celebrity match: Think Monty Don. Rugged, honest character with an unpretentious personality despite his popularity.
If you've never been to the south of France you should go! Corbières country is a beautiful but wild area, encompassing impressive rocky hills, ancient ruins and tiny French villages, eventually ending up on the Mediterranean coast. What you see is what you get in this region, and that is honest, real, unspoilt French ness.
And that's what Corbières is: larger than life, full bodied, unpretentious red wine. A rather traditional French wine. Bursting with flavours like plum, blackberry and star anise, this spicy wine will bring a smile to your face whatever the occasion.
We love to drink Corbières with barbecued foods or pasta with tomato sauce but it is also perfect with good hearty stews and braised shin of beef or wild boar – perhaps not the most glamorous or sophisticated of wines, but a true French classic!
Because of the sweet spiciness and the absence of new oak tannins in Corbières it matches very well with spiced pork or spiced sausages. Or for an authentic rustic French experience, try a glass alongside mussels Provencal.

Southern France
To source and blend Corbières, we chose to work with a highly skilled producer situated in Beaucaire in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France. The character of Corbières truly reflects the beautiful, wild area from where it originates. From impressive rocky hills to ancient ruins and tiny french villages, eventually ending up on the mediterranean coast, this is France at its best.
